The Karnataka political crisis is getting uglier. Congress leader from Karnataka DK Shivakumar, who went to visit the rebel lawmakers who are staying at Mumbai hotel, was stopped by police. Shivakumar, who reached Hotel Renaissance in Powai was stopped by Mumbai police. The lawmakers had filed a complaint with Mumbai police saying that they need protection and they fear for their life. When Shivakumar entered the hotel gates, cops stopped him and asked him to return back.
Forget the Game of Thrones and House of Cards, sorely tempted to script an Indian Netflix version of a political drama called Nataka in Karnataka! For latest episode please visit Hotel Renaissance in Powai!-Rajdeep Sardesai, Journalist & Media Personality.
The drama took another turn when Shivakumar told the cops that he just wants to meet his friends and have a cup of tea with them. But all his negotiations failed when Mumbai police denied him or his party workers permission to enter the hotel premises.
Karnataka that is currently ruled by Congress and JDS coalition is in deep threat after thirteen lawmakers submitted their resignations last week. The BJP, who already has a huge following in Karnataka is gearing up to take power in the state. Congress and JDS leaders are trying hard to convince the lawmakers who have resigned. But looks like all their efforts are in vain. All the thirteen lawmakers are adamant of quitting.
"Who said Indian politics can be boring. Just look at the drama unfolding outside Hotel Renaissance in Mumbai. Who needs Bollywood and TV serials?", tweeted journalist Rifat Jawaid.
"D K Shivkumar showing his hotel reservation confirmation on his phone to the media, asking the DCP once again to let him in. A stand off outside the Mumbai 5 star. Wonder if the rebel MLAs are watching all this drama inside their rooms", tweeted journalist Gargi Rawat.
