Maharashtra political crisis continues

Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has now invited NCP- Nationalist Congress Party to form government in the state.
This came after the Shiv Sena failed to reach a decision about forming the government by the deadline that was set by Koshyari. Shiv Sena’s request for more time to form government was also denied by the Governor.
Aaditya Thackeray, Shiv Sena leader said, “We asked him for two days’ time but we weren’t given time. Our claim wasn’t denied but the time was. We’ll continue to put in efforts to form government.”
In the Maharashtra assembly elections NCP had emerged as the third single largest party and now it has been given 24 hours to take the decision of coming to power.
BJP with 105 seats has already refused to form government over conflict with ally Shiv Sena.
Congress party has not yet made a decision about supporting the Shiv Sena and the state may finally go to President’s Rule.
“Governor is giving each party a fair chance to present their numbers. But personally, I’m hoping we have the President’s rule. Mandate of the people of Maharashtra is for a BJP led govt. It’s only fair that the Congress-NCP sit in opposition!,” tweeted Priti Gandhi.
