Even with farmer protests intensifying at Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again expressed support for his party’s controversial farm bills. Modi stated that not just farmers, but opposition parties have also demanded for farm laws since past many years. But now, farmers are being misled by opposition due to which there is confusion leading to unending protests.

While speaking at a function at Kutch in Gujarat on Tuesday, Modi said, “Indian government is always committed to welfare of farmers. We will assure that their concerns are addressed”. He also made sure to meet a few cultivators at Kutch.

Last month, while speaking in his monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio program, Modi said farm laws are going to benefit farmers in different ways. The many round of talks held by the union government and farmers have failed.

Farmers, who demand that all three farm bills must be scrapped, have been protesting at the national capital for over 20 days. In spite of severe weather conditions, farmers are determined to not back out. One of them from Punjab died of hyperthermia after sleeping in the park for many days.
