Modi catches glimpse of solar eclipse

On Thursday, many parts across India witnessed the last solar eclipse of 2019. It was predominant in parts of South India, mainly North Kerala. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was one amongst those who wanted to check out the spectacular sight. But reportedly, he couldn’t view the eclipse clearly from Delhi after clouds covered it. But Modi ensured to take a glimpse of the eclipse after being live streamed from Kozhikode in Kerala.
Like many Indians, I was enthusiastic about #solareclipse2019. Unfortunately, I could not see the Sun due to cloud cover but I did catch glimpses of the eclipse in Kozhikode and other parts on live stream. Also enriched my knowledge on the subject by interacting with experts- Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India.
Many memes of Modi looking out for the eclipse wearing special glasses did the rounds on social media. Gappistan Radio tweeted, “This is becoming a meme” to which Modi replied, “Most welcome… Enjoy”.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday stated that Modi was lying on not building detention centres for Muslims in India after implementing citizenship amendment bill. Even the Congress mocked at Modi with a tweet and hasgtag, “Truly the Coolest PM. #JhootJhootJhoot”. Modi led central government introduced the citizenship amendment bill earlier this month which created protests across the country. Many people died in the protests which are still ongoing.
“Modi tries to see the solar eclipse, becomes a meme — and Twitter is ‘enjoying’”, tweeted journalist Shekhar Gupta.
