Modi holds mega rally at Delhi

India has been witnessing numerous protests after introduction of the citizenship amendment bill. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a mega rally at New Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Sunday. Over two lakh people attended the mega event which was organised to launch BJP’s campaign for Delhi’s upcoming assembly elections for next year. The minister later took to Twitter to share photos from the rally and tweeted, “Thank you Delhi for the immense affection! Here are pictures from today’s rally”.
Modi stated that Muslims do not have anything to fear due to the introduction of the bill. He further added that Congress and other opposition parties have been spreading false lies due to his return back to power. This includes opening of detention camps for Muslims in India. According to Modi, India’s specialty lies in its unity in diversity.“Modi’s speech today was full of lies. In this thread, I am putting together tweets exposing all of them. RT widely. If you see other relevant tweets, tag me and I will add them to the list. #ModiLies #IndiaAgainstCAA_NRC’, tweeted journalist and student Visvak.
Modi had death threats during the rally. Hence, there was multilevel security which was beefed up as precautionary measure. Over 20 companies of outside force was deployed across the venue. Each force had over 70 to 80 personals. The rally happened during a time when Section 144 was imposed at many parts of India. “And Narendra Modi is holding a massive rally at the Ramlila Maidan. Is 144 only for protestors?”, tweeted journalist Rana Ayyub.
