#NewzHook2019 – Women in the Disability Sector who Inspire

Newz Hook’s campaign #WonderWoman was all about women of immense will power and determination. Here is a look at the list of women from the disability sector that are the face of change in India.
Dr Ketna L Mehta is the founder of the NGO Nina Foundation. Dr Mehta aims to helps other people with spinal cord injury through the organisation.
Priya Bhargav fought through the various setbacks that she had to face due to disability caused by lupus, an autoimmune disorder. She was among the top 25 finalists of the Miss Wheelchair World pageant in 2018.
Kozhikode resident Mariyath CH is an author, an artist and a social worker. She was chosen as a youth icon for Kerala by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Laxmi Agarwal is warrior who has become the face of India’s campaign against the crime of acid attacks. Laxmi is a constant voice of support for acid attack survivors and has been demanding stricter laws against the crime.
Divya Sharma is a content writer and is visually impaired due to glaucoma. Her story is that of overcoming odds and rising through struggles to reach for dreams.
And finally, Founder of Amaze Charitable Trust Akila Vaidyanathan, who is helping hundreds of families with children with autism. She is a strong advocate of inclusion for children with autism.
