Over 10 members of CSK team test Covid+

As many as 10-12 members of the Chennai Super Kings IPL team have tested Covid positive after a training camp was organised. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expressed its concerns over a five-day training camp that was organised by CSK at Chennai before leaving for Dubai for the IPL 2020.
The CSK had taken necessary government permissions before going ahead with the camp in Chennai. But the location of the camp was the Chepauk stadium, which falls under a hotspot. Tamil Nadu has recorded more than four lakh cases so far.
According to reports, a right-arm medium fast bowler, who has recently played for India in white-ball cricket, along with a few staff members have tested positive for Covid-19. The number could be as high as 12.
This has forced team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni to extend the quarantine period till 1 September.
At the moment there is no imminent threat to the IPL which was shifted out of India due to the pandemic.
All Covid-19 positive results came during day 1, 3 and 6 of testing after the CSK’s arrival in Dubai. A couple of net bowlers have tested positive apart from a senior official of the CSK management and an official’s wife.
The challenge now is to trace the others who came in contact with these people. Most of them contracted the virus in Chennai.
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals’ fielding coach Dishant Yagnik had returned positive in tests conducted in India.
