PM Modi meets Chinese premier

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived to India on Friday afternoon and this time the location chosen was Chennai. He met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for lunch and dinner and is also expected to have a six hour one-on-one talk on Saturday morning. The duo will visit the famous town of Mahabalipuram which is almost 50 kms away from Chennai city. Security has been tightened across Chennai as part of Modi-Jinping meet. “Welcome to India, President Xi Jinping!”, tweeted Narendra Modi.
Regarding China’s stand on Kashmir, they had said that the country is closely administering the situation in the valley state. This statement did not go very well with India. Moreover, China has been constantly supporting Pakistan and is their main ally.
With the latest Modi-Jinping meet, the relations between both the countries in trade and other socio-political matters is expected to enhance. Both the leaders last met at Wuhan in China on April 2018. The meet at Chennai is considered to be an informal one though matters pertaining to both countries will be discussed. “Indo-China trade is heavily skewed in China’s favour. As President Xi Jinping is set to arrive in India, PM #Modi needs to focus on India’s interests. India has to be more assertive if it intends to bridge the $53 billion trade deficit with China”, tweeted journalist Shama Mohamed.
