Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed his monthly radio telecast ‘Mann Ki Baat’ yesterday.

He started the show with birthday wishes for legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar who turned 90 on 28 September.

PM Modi spoke about the recent ban imposed on the use and production of e-cigarettes in the country. He said that the younger generation of India was vulnerable to the harmful effects of e-cigarettes.

He also tweeted about this topic and wrote, “There is much misinformation about e-cigarettes. They are extremely harmful for health. What is even worse is that unlike tobacco, where the hazards are known, in this case it is silent and equally lethal. #MannKiBaat.”

PM Narendra Modi also asked young Indians to listen to the recent speech given by tennis player Daniil Medvedev after his defeat in the US Open final.

PM Modi said he was touched by the speech and also said,”[Losing final] would’ve pushed anyone towards remorse and despair; in the case of Medvedev, there was no sign of the slightest pallor on his countenance.”

Prime Minister Modi also asked the people to celebrate the festival of Diwali in a different way this year by felicitating daughters. He said, ”This Diwali, let us salute the indomitable Nari Shakti of India. Let us make this year’s Diwali about #BharatKiLaxmi. To know more, hear this. #MannKiBaat.”
