Rahul Gandhi has reportedly said that he is ready to work for the party as all desire. This was said at a meeting with senior Congress party leaders who had written a letter criticising the leadership and calling for a major change.

This comment has been welcomed by all the leaders present and renewed hopes that Rahul will return as Congress president.

A five-hour meeting was held between Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and the so-called rebel leaders on the lawns of the Congress interim president’s home.

Rahul Gandhi said, “I am willing to work for the party as all of you desire,” senior Congress leader Pawan Bansal said after the meeting. The former Congress president reportedly also agreed that “better communication” was needed and the party needed to strengthen itself at the booth-level.

The leaders reportedly remained firm on their position of demanding an election for the post of Congress president, the Congress Working Committee and the parliamentary board.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is the Congress general secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh, talked about rebuilding the organisation.

Rahul Gandhi quit as Congress president after the party’s national election defeat in 2019.
