The Congress party has announced that it will hold a ‘dharna‘ at Raj Ghat in New Delhi on Monday.

The ‘satyagrah dharna’ will be to protest against the CAA-Citizenship (Amendment) Act and NRC-National Register of Citizens.

Congress’ interim President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will lead the protest and several other top leaders are also expected to join them.

“In a democracy people have the right to raise their voice against wrong decisions and policies of the government and register their concerns. The BJP government has shown utter disregard for people’s voices and chosen to use brute force to suppress dissent,” Sonia Gandhi said.

As per reports, it will be a day long silent dharna by Congress. The protest was moved to Monday as the party could not get permissions for a Sunday protest.

At least 15 people have died in the protests against the CAA across India.

While many celebrities are voicing their opposition, actor Paresh Rawal took to twitter to show support for  Prime Minister Modi. He wrote, “Sardar Patel had unified India and @narendramodi will never let it disintegrate.”
