Sikh body demands apology from Kangana Ranaut

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who is a staunch BJP supporter has often drawn controversy for her hate tweets against people from the minority community. As farmer protest intensifies in Delhi, Kangana tweeted photo of an elderly woman asserting that she was Bilkis Bano who had been an integral part of the Shaheen Bagh protests and further added that she could be paid to attend protests. Apparently, the elderly woman turned out to be the mother of the one of the farmers who were protesting. Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee’s (DSGMC) has asked Ranaut to apologize for her derogatory tweet which the actress later removed. One of the most powerful Sikh bodies in the country, DSGMC was set up under the Sikh Guridwara Act, 1971.
“We have sent a legal notice to @KanganaTeam for her derogatory tweet calling the aged mother of a farmer as a woman available for ₹100. Her tweets portray farmers protest as antinational. We demand an unconditional apology from her for her insensitive remarks on farmers protest”, tweeted DSGMC chief Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
A Punjab based lawyer named Harkam Singh had also sent a notice to Ranaut stating that the photograph of the woman that she shared is of Mahinder Kaur from Bathinda.
Ranaut had also engaged in an ugly spat with actor Diljit Dosanjh on Twitter regarding the same tweet. Dosanjh criticized Ranaut to which she lashed back harshly.
