India's Sumit Nagpal is the toast of tennis world

Tennis player Sumit Nagal is the toast of the international tennis scene after he achieved the distinction of being the first Indian to take a set off Roger Federer, widely regarded as among the greatest tennis players in the world.
The two players went against each other in a first-round match at the US Open, a Grand Slam event. The Haryana born player won the first set 6-4 and briefly raised hopes of a miraculous win. But Federer, who is a 20-time Grand Slam champion improved his game and showed his mettle. Federer won the second and third sets to emerge triumphant.
Nagpal won much praise for keeping he fight alive and kept persisting, breaking the Swiss player in the fourth set to stay alive in the match. Federer managed to close out the set and will now meet Bosnia's Damir Dzumhur.
After Nagal's brilliant showing in the first set, US Open saluted the Indian youngster.

Twitter fans were full of praise too. Politician Naveen Jindal said, "So proud of you Sumit Nagal. Great debut in the #USOpen ,putting in a spirited performance against Roger Federer. Way to go". Another tweet said, "Well played Sumit Nagal. Although Sumit Nagal lost, But surely it was an exciting match . Winning a set against Roger Federer is nothing less than an achievement".
Federer later said, "played like my beard today. I was rusty". The first set was a wake-up call for the legendary player as he trailed a 22-year-old from Haryana who is ranked 190th.
But the 38-year-old bounced back to clinch his 1,224th career victory. "Just tried to forget it, play tough, stay with him. It was a tough first set for me," Federer said. "He came back and played really strong. I was missing a lot of balls and trying to cut back on unforced errors. It all came back just in time."
