Tennis player Sumit Nagal is the toast of the international tennis scene after he achieved the distinction of being the first Indian to take a set off Roger Federer, widely regarded as among the greatest tennis players in the world.

The two players went against each other in a first-round match at the US Open, a Grand Slam event. The Haryana born player won the first set 6-4 and briefly raised hopes of a miraculous win. But Federer, who is a 20-time Grand Slam champion improved his game and showed his mettle. Federer won the second and third sets to emerge triumphant.

Nagpal won much praise for keeping he fight alive and kept persisting, breaking the Swiss player in the fourth set to stay alive in the match. Federer managed to close out the set and will now meet Bosnia's Damir Dzumhur.
