Over past one week, state of Telangana has been witnessing heavy rainfall, ravishing floods bringing life to a standstill. Though the state is limping back to normalcy, this year’s October rain, believed to be the worst of the century, has caused heavy damage across 14 districts of Telangana. According to reports, over 50 people have died and a damage of Rs 6000 crore has been estimated. Number of deaths are likely to rise in coming days after more missing bodies are found.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao held a meeting to review damages and has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release Rs 1350 crore for relief and rehabilitation purpose. More than 44,000 people were shifted to relief camps in the state.

Shocking visuals and heart-breaking stories from Telangana have been going viral on social media. Many news channels covered the story of 55-year-old Mohd Abdul Tahir Qureshi who lost nine of his family members in the ravishing floods. Three bodies were recovered and a search is on for five others including a few month’s old baby.

Voice recording of a man named Venkatesh Goud is also going viral. Goud can be heard seeking help by calling his friend from inside his flooded car. In the recording which is over one minute, the man can be heard saying that his car is stuck in the flood currents and he needs help. Goud’s body was found later. Nine people including a two-month-old baby had died after a wall collapsed in Hyderabad.
