The holiday season is fast approaching. People are making plans for long journey and vacations. When you are a visually impaired person, there are certain things to keep in mind. Check out these tips that can help you have a safe and hassle-free travel experience.

The holiday season is here. Everyone is busy making travel plans for the upcoming vacations which starts in a few days. When you are a visually impaired person, travelling can be challenging. Especially when you are travelling alone. It should be fun and stress free. It is important to keep a few tips in mind when you are planning for the vacations.

Penav Mota, a visually impaired student loves travelling. But he makes sure that he plans the trip ahead.

It is very important to check out the itinerary. You must know about the place and what you can expect from the tour. Look out if the place is accessible for visually impaired people. If you have a guide, they must know your needs and requirements. For example, guides often tell us to look at monuments and buildings. But clearly, a visually impaired person cannot do it. So give us details- Penav Mota.

Here are some travelling tips for visually impaired people

Plan ahead– Whether you are a visually impaired person or not, planning is essential before travelling. It can make your adventure more enjoyable and fun. So read about the place that you plan to go. Look out for what all you can expect there. There are numerous accessible hotels across the world. Make sure you check-in to one. The internet can give you a lot of options.

Carry basic necessities– When you travel to a new place, you might be unsure of what to expect there. So it is important to carry all the basic necessities. This includes things that you use daily and even medicines.

Ask for help– Do not hesitate to ask for help when needed. When you are at the hotel or walking around a new place, there are chances of missing out some things. Most of the people are willing to help. So do not be sceptical. You can also request for customer services. Otherwise, talk to other fellow travellers or even local people. Do not feel shy.

Check out on discounts– One of the best things about holiday season are the discounts available on hotels and other facilities. So make the maximum use of it. During your planning, look out for the best options available. Even hotels abroad have some great deals. Do not miss out on them. Travel smart and safe.

“For me, travelling is all about the journey and not the destination. I enjoy those long drives on the highway and feeling the air. Recently, I had travelled to five different destinations in five days. It was a thrilling experience. I believe every travel teaches you something”, says Simran Chawla who is visually impaired.
