WhatsApp will stop working on many phones from next year

WhatsApp is undoubtedly one of the most popular apps available today. Officials from WhatsApp has revealed that the app will stop working on millions of devices from across the globe from 31 December 2019. The company has withdrawn support from old devices including Windows. “WhatsApp, a popular smartphone messaging app that billions of users worldwide use to connect, is shutting down service to millions of users who are using outdated devices”, tweeted New York Daily News.
Facebook had bought WhatsApp in the year 2014. Messenger and Instagram apps will also be integrated to WhatsApp very soon. Over the past one week, WhatsApp users from different parts of the globe had complained of trouble in accessing it. This included users from countries like Mexico, United Kingdom and South America.
WhatApp has been introducing various new features since the past couple of the years. The latest one is introduction of call waiting feature to its Android app.
From 1 February 2020, iOS 8 and older phones and Android device running 2.3.7 or older will no longer be supported. This latest news has come as a shock to many WhatsApp users across the world. “WhatsApp won’t work on millions of devices from next year – San Francisco, Dec 11 (IANS) WhatsApp will stop working on millions of older mobile devices globally as the company has withdrawn support for such phones”, tweeted Soumen Sarkar.
